“Bernadette
from Nevers to Sainthood”, an Exhibition organized
by the District Heritage Multimedia Library Jean Jaurès,
Nevers.
Saturday 24th May to Sunday 15th June in the Palais Ducal of Nevers. The 150th Anniversary of the Apparitions was an opportunity for the Multimedia Library Jean-Jaurès of Nevers to remember Bernadette. Documents provided by Bishop’s House in Nevers, the Convent of St. Gildard and the Regional Archives have provided a theme in three stages, for the Exhibition: the time at St Gildard, where she arrived on the 7th July 1866, then the time of the Canonization and finally the ever-present period of Pilgrimages. The catalogue drawn up by Guy Thuiller enables us to add a sequence: Bernadette, Lourdes, and the literature, with Zola, Huysmans, Barres, Mauriac, Claudel… A few pieces of earthenware and a statue of Bernadette have been added to a well-stocked visual display of posters, photographs, postcards, manuscripts… |
